Activism & Volunteering

Pittsburgh DSA
I've been a member of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America since March 2018.
◘ I am a member-at-large on the chapter's leadership board, the Coordinating Committee. I have chaired large meetings, developed agendas, taken minutes, and seen to various administration tasks to keep the organization running regularly.
◘ I am a member of the Internal Organizing Committee which helps with new member orientation, internal communications/organization, and getting members connecting with tech tools.
◘ I was elected as a Harassment Grievance Officer in October 2018 and served until 2021. I processed grievances and personal issues and also worked on programming relating to mediation, navigating uncomfortable situations, healthy arguing, etc.
◘ I often provide childcare at events, both in the DSA and in other organizations in Pittsburgh (I have all the relevant PA clearances).
◘ I occasionally create visual materials to promote events or draft copy for social media.

Ballots for Patients
I have volunteered on and off for Ballots for Patients since its inception in 2017.
◘ I was a general volunteer in November 2017 at UPMC Magee and Shadyside. I connected registered voters who could not leave the hospital to get to the polls due to illness or pregnancy with emergency absentee ballots, sometimes helping patients fill out forms if they were incapacitated.
◘ I was the hospital lead for Presbyterian/Montefiore Hospital in November 2018, orienting and organizing volunteers and hospital staff for that site.
Legal Observer Program
I completed the trainings offered by the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Lawyer's Guild on legal observation in the summer of 2018.
◘ I attend political demonstrations to document police activity and any arrests to insure that protestors' rights are not violated and anyone arrested/incarcerated can move through and ideally out of the jail system as efficiently and painlessly as possible.

◘ I and other legal observers wear neon green hats to denote our position.
